Your role

Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) is a vital component of IT Service Management (ITSM) that focuses on managing and maintaining the integrity of an organization’s IT assets and their configurations. This discipline ensures that all assets, including hardware, software, and documentation, are accurately recorded and maintained throughout their lifecycle. It plays a crucial role in supporting effective service delivery and decision-making within the organization.

The Service Asset and Configuration Manager is responsible for overseeing the identification, control, and maintenance of service assets and configuration items (CIs) within the organization. This role involves establishing and managing a comprehensive configuration management database (CMDB), ensuring that all assets and their relationships are accurately documented. The Service Asset and Configuration Manager also ensures compliance with policies and standards, facilitates audits, and supports change management processes to optimize the use of IT resources and enhance service delivery.

Your responsibilities

• Configuration Inventory: Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of all configuration items (CIs), including hardware, software, licenses, and associated documentation.
• CI Classification: Classify configuration items based on their criticality, usage, and value to the organization, prioritizing management efforts effectively.
• Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of configuration items, from acquisition and deployment to maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Configuration Optimization: Identify opportunities for optimizing the utilization of configuration items, reducing costs, and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Compliance Management: Ensure that all configuration items comply with licensing, legal, and regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies.
• Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with vendors to procure configuration items, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships effectively.
• Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with configuration items, including potential security vulnerabilities, maintenance challenges, and end-of-life concerns.
• Documentation and Records Management: Maintain accurate records of configuration-related information, contracts, licenses, and warranties to support effective management.
• Change Coordination: Coordinate changes to configuration items, ensuring alignment with configuration management objectives and conducting impact assessments.
• Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports and analyze data related to configuration management to support decision-making regarding asset utilization, costs, and efficiency.
• Disposal and Decommissioning: Plan and oversee the proper disposal or decommissioning of retired configuration items in an environmentally responsible manner.

Our requirements

• Bachelor's Degree: A degree in a relevant field such as IT Management, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
• Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in service asset and configuration management, IT asset management (ITAM), or a related role.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and optimize configuration management processes.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and vendors.
• Familiarity with Tools: Knowledge of configuration management and ITAM tools and methodologies.
• Certifications:
• Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or equivalent certification.
• ITIL Foundation Certification, with a focus on service management principles.
