Senior AI/ML & Data Engineer (Azure Databricks)

We are looking for an experienced Senior AI/ML & Data Engineer to join a long-term project for an international client. The role combines Data Engineering, AI/ML and Intelligent Document Processing, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable data solutions, AI-driven automation, and OCR-based document processing pipelines using technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake and Azure AI services. We offer: 100% remote work. Long-term cooperation on an international project. Responsibilities: Design, develop and optimize data processing solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics. Develop OCR-based and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solutions for automated document processing. Extract, transform and integrate data from documents into enterprise applications and reporting systems. Work with Azure Data Lake and modern data architectures. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI-driven process automation. Participate in solution architecture discussions and contribute to DataOps best practices. Support the implementation and development of AI and Machine Learning initiatives. Work with multilingual documents, forms and unstructured data. Contribute to new AI/ML automation initiatives emerging within the project pipeline. Depending on the project roadmap, you may work on initiatives such as: OCR automation for cash register reports. Intelligent extraction of data from receipts and invoices. Automated document data extraction and integration with downstream systems. Digitization and automation of paper-based customer surveys. Combining OCR, text analytics and sentiment analysis. Processing and understanding multilingual documents and forms. Developing new AI-driven automation solutions as part of the client's innovation pipeline. We are looking for: Strong professional experience in Data Engineering. Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks. Solid experience with Azure Synapse Analytics. Very good knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud services. Practical experience with Azure Data Lake. Strong SQL skills and experience with: SQL Server SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) Experience with: Data Modeling Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence Data Mining DataOps Previous exposure to Machine Learning projects. Experience with OCR, Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) or Azure AI Document Intelligence. Knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text analytics. Experience with multilingual document processing is a strong advantage. Familiarity with modern AI-assisted software development practices. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an international, distributed team.
