The Global Project Manager will oversee the maintenance, upgrades, and configuration of engineering software applications across multiple business units worldwide. This role ensures seamless deployment, compliance, and optimization of software tools critical to engineering operations. The ideal candidate will have strong project management expertise, technical knowledge of engineering software (e.g., CAD, PLM, CAE), and experience working in a global enterprise environment.
The position partners closely with Global Software & Technical Systems teams, Engineering, IT, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic technology solutions that improve operational effectiveness, standardization, compliance, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end project management for engineering software maintenance, upgrades, and configuration across global business units.
- Define project scope, timelines, effort hours, and deliverables in alignment with business objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (IT, Engineering, Vendors) to ensure successful implementation.
- Oversee the creation, testing, and deployment of standardized software builds for engineering tools, ensuring consistency across global teams.
- Collaborate with a global cross-functional development team to deliver Technical Solutions on time and to budget, while identifying risks and opportunities to those schedules and budgets.
- Software Maintenance & Upgrades: manage patch deployments, version upgrades, and license renewals for engineering applications.
- Assess impact of upgrades on workflows and ensure minimal disruption to engineering teams.
- Oversee testing, validation, and user acceptance processes.
- Configuration & Customization: collaborate with engineering teams to configure software tools to meet regional or business-specific requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison between business units, IT, and third-party software vendors.
- Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
- Ensure software compliance with licensing, security policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR, GDPR).
Here's what you'll need
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Project Management or related field. PMP or Agile certification preferred.
- 5+ years in project management, preferably in engineering software (CAD/PLM/CAE) or enterprise IT.
- Proven track record managing global projects with multi-site teams.
- Familiarity with software deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, DevOps) and ITIL processes.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and risk management skills.
- Ability to translate technical details for non-technical audiences.
