Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role: Our client from the alternative investments and asset management industry is expanding its data and technology platforms to support business growth and data-driven decision-making. The role focuses on improving data quality, reliability, governance, and automation across a rapidly growing Databricks-based ecosystem.

You will play a key role in defining, building, and maintaining automated testing solutions for data platforms, pipelines, analytics, and reporting systems while leveraging modern AI-powered development tools.
Rate: 140 - 170zł/h via B2B Hays Poland
Localisation: 100% remote
Contract length: long term cooperation

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated data testing frameworks for Databricks-based solutions.
• Build and execute unit, integration, end-to-end, and regression tests for data pipelines and processing jobs.
• Validate data quality, completeness, accuracy, consistency, and lineage across multiple business domains.
• Implement and maintain data quality controls using tools such as dbt, Great Expectations, and custom automation frameworks.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and enhance Python-based testing solutions.
• Verify role-based access controls and security configurations within Databricks and related platforms.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to ensure high-quality data delivery.
• Leverage AI tools for test analysis, test case generation, documentation, and data quality rule creation while ensuring all outputs are validated by a human reviewer.
• Contribute to best practices related to data governance, testing standards, and platform reliability.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in automated testing of modern data platforms and data engineering solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including: Jobs, Delta Live Tables (DLT), Unity Catalog, Change Data Feed (CDF) / Change Data Capture (CDC)
• Experience working with Azure services, including: ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Entra ID
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience building automation frameworks.
• Practical experience with dbt and/or Great Expectations.
• Experience implementing testing solutions within CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.
• Good understanding of Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture principles.
• Experience with BDD testing practices, including Gherkin and Playwright.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Experience working with AI/LLM APIs, such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
• Knowledge of MCP Servers and Agentic AI workflows would be a strong advantage.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with enterprise data governance initiatives.
• Exposure to cloud-native data platforms and large-scale analytics environments.
• Previous experience in financial services, asset management, or investment-related industries.
