Team/Role Overview
Our team plays a central role in strengthening Citi’s data management capabilities within the Finance division, with a mandate that is deeply aligned to the firm’s broader risk, regulatory, and transformation agenda. As Citi continues to enhance the integrity, accessibility, and strategic use of financial data across the organization, our team operates as a key enabler—designing and implementing the data foundations that support both day‑to‑day Finance operations and long‑term enterprise objectives.
This is an established but rapidly evolving team, shaped by Citi’s multi‑year commitment to building more robust data structures, improving data quality, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory expectations. The team collaborates closely with partners across Finance, Risk, Operations & Technology, and various transformation and regulatory programs. On a daily basis, we work with data owners, process leads, technology developers, and control functions to drive consistency, resolve data issues, and embed sustainable data management practices across the organization.
The work we do supports critical initiatives such as risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and operational simplification—and lays the groundwork for future analytical capabilities, automation, and enhanced decision‑making. The individual in this role will shape Citi’s data landscape at a foundational level, ensuring that our financial data is trusted, well‑governed, and positioned to support the firm’s long‑term strategy.
What you’ll do
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert within Banking, specifically Wholesale Lending for planning and analysis of project deliverables and processes, liaising with multiple teams.
- Utilize knowledge in the following areas:
- Accounting/Financial Reporting
- Regulatory Reporting (e.g., Capital, Liquidity, etc.)
- Trade Lifecycle
- Credit Agreements & Facility
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, facilitating seamless execution through effective meetings and communication.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, proposing innovative solutions and ensuring timely delivery of complex data projects.
- Champion data quality, lineage, and governance frameworks, independently conducting analyses to develop robust business requirements, manage data issues, and define data quality rules.
- Analyze banking and financial data (deposits, credit/debit cards, payments, etc.). Write complex SQL queries, profile data, and support data modeling. Collaborate with SMEs, Data Architects, Product Owners, and technical teams to deliver data‑driven solutions.
- Consult with end users to support defining, and/or integrating processes to align with the enterprise Data Governance roadmap and/or Data Risk and Control framework and taxonomy.
- Provide technical knowledge to ensure efficient design, development, and implementation of complex projects.
- Lead system change process from requirements through implementation.
- Apply a good understanding of concepts and procedures within own business analysis area to resolve issues.
- Monitor and report governance metrics, including Data Governance adoption and maturity.
- Monitor alignment of processes across business, functions and lines of business to the Enterprise Data Governance Policy and standards to meet specific requirements.
- Contribute to producing recommendations for enterprise‑wide guiding policies, standards and procedures.
What we’ll need from you
- 4+ years relevant experience in a Data Governance, Data Management or related area.
- Strong project management skills.
- Optimizes work processes by knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, while monitoring tight deadlines or unexpected requirement changes.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficient in the use of basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience required.
