About the project, Excited about helping a core engineering team overcome architectural and adoption hurdles in a business-critical system?, , We are looking for an expert-level Drools Consultant for a 6-month initiative. As an external domain master, your primary mission will be to support our development team in overcoming initial adoption challenges, establishing best practices, and ensuring a smooth integration of the Drools rule engine into our enterprise ecosystem., , To ensure success, you will work hand-in-hand with our internal technical specialists, software architects, and QA engineers, acting as both a high-level enabler and a hands-on problem solver., , Locations: Poland (Remote / Hybrid from Kraków or Gdańsk office), Type of contract: B2B Contract for 6 months (with potential extension)

Your responsibilities, Overcome Adoption Challenges: Analyze our current architecture, identify bottlenecks, and resolve initial implementation and performance hurdles related to the Drools framework., Establish Standards: Define system design, rule architecture, and clean coding standards for Drools implementation (DRL files, decision tables, optimization)., Team Support & Collaboration: Actively support and coach our core team through high-collaboration workflows, code reviews, and pair programming to transfer knowledge., Design & Implementation: Hands-on design and implementation of complex rule-based architectures, ensuring they align seamlessly with modern microservices., Risk Mitigation: Analyze project requirements to determine feasibility within strict time constraints, proactively identifying potential technical risks and proposing mitigation plans., Documentation: Maintain clear, concise technical documentation and best-practice guides in the company knowledge base for the long-term maintainability of the project.

Drools Mastery: Expert-level, deep practical knowledge of the Drools rule engine, Business Central, KIE containers, and complex event processing (CEP)., Technical Background: Strong background in Java and core enterprise frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate)., Can-Do Attitude: A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong drive to untangle complex technical blockers., High Collaboration Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to smoothly integrate into a new team and guide developers., Architectural Insight: Strong understanding of distributed architectures, design patterns, and rule engine integration strategies., Language Skills: Very good command of English. Fluency in Polish is a strong asset.

Optional, Experience with OptaPlanner / Timefold or other constraint solvers., Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles., Knowledge of modern CI/CD systems (Jenkins), version control (Git, Gerrit), and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
