About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our global research team as a contractor. In this role, you will evaluate, develop, and optimize computational methods for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, supporting drug discovery and development programs.
You will be responsible for building robust and scalable bioinformatics pipelines that operate on high‑performance computing (HPC) clusters and cloud environments. Close collaboration with biologists and data analysts across multiple therapeutic areas will be a key part of your work, including Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases & Vaccines, Neuroscience, and Pharmacokinetics .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data analysis
- Analyze datasets such as WGS, WES, RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, ATAC‑seq, and single‑cell data
- Implement and evaluate computational methods for alignment, assembly, variant detection, genome enrichment, and phylogenetics
- Collaborate with cross‑functional, global research teams
- Ensure pipelines are production‑ready and scalable on HPC and cloud platforms
Required Experience and Skills
- Ph.D. with at least 1 year of experience in bioinformatics or Master’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in bioinformatics
- Hands‑on experience with next‑generation sequencing data analysis
- Experience with pipeline scripting languages (e.g. Nextflow )
- Proficiency in Python, R, and/or C++ in a Unix/Linux environment
- Strong knowledge of common bioinformatics file formats (FASTA, FASTQ, BAM, VCF, etc.)
- Experience working with high‑performance Linux clusters and cloud computing
- Ability to effectively use online resources (documentation, GitHub, Stack Overflow) for troubleshooting
- Proven track record of scientific publications
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
