For our client, a global engineering and industrial company specializing in advanced technologies and large-scale infrastructure projects , we are currently looking for candidates for the position of Senior Fire Fighting Engineer .
Work mode: Hybrid (3 days/week from the Kraków office)
Compensation: Open rate (depends on experience)
Contract type: B2B
Start Date: ASAP (1-month notice period also acceptable)
Cooperation: 6-month contract (with potential extension)
Language: English B2+
Project and Role Overview:
The role involves end-to-end responsibility for Fire Fighting and Fire Protection systems within complex industrial projects, from early design phases to final commissioning. You will act as a technical expert, focusing on Fire Water systems design, hydraulic calculations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards, while closely collaborating with international teams, vendors, and EPC contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Technical Safety Lead across feasibility, concept, pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design phases
- Design and supervise Fire Water systems (underground, aboveground, fixed systems)
- Perform and validate hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing
- Prepare and review Fire Protection Philosophy and loss prevention deliverables
- Develop and review engineering documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, datasheets, fireproofing plans)
- Provide technical safety input to multidisciplinary documentation (e.g., Process P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams, plot plans)
- Initiate and manage safety studies (HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, QRA, FERA, EERA)
- Coordinate Technical Safety and Loss Prevention activities with EPC contractors and stakeholders
- Supervise 3D PDS piping modelling for Fire Water systems
- Validate vendor documentation and ensure compliance
- Coordinate purchase orders for Fire Fighting and Fire & Gas systems
- Participate in FAT/SAT testing and commissioning activities
- Lead technical meetings and support issue resolution across teams
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Ensure consistency and quality of all Fire Fighting documentation
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in Fire Fighting / Fire Protection engineering
- Expert knowledge of Water Spray System design
- Strong expertise in Fire Water systems and Fire Water Pumps
- Advanced knowledge of hydraulic calculations for Fire Water systems
- Solid understanding of Life Safety Codes (e.g., NFPA)
- Valid NFPA certification
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience working in industrial / EPC project environments
- Very good English communication skills (B2+)
Nice to have:
- Experience as Technical Safety Lead or Lead Engineer
- Experience with 3D PDS or similar piping design tools
- Background in large-scale, international industrial projects
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and global stakeholders
