The Aegis Ashore Internal Communication Specialist is the Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Aegis Ashore Internal associated communication systems. Supporting the US Navy's Aegis Ashore site in Redzikowo, Poland, the role provides corrective and preventative maintenance, repair, alignments, assessments, monitor and analysis of IC system conditions, and assists military counterparts in maintenance and training engineering requirements. The SME will troubleshoot system issues, implement upgrades, and support resolution of CASREPs, CMAVs, and SRAs, playing a critical role in NATO's integrated missile defense architecture to counter evolving ballistic missile threats.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUTIES
- Coordinates and maintains Internal Communication resources and related systems.
- Coordinates with external stakeholders for reach‑back technical support to resolve communication system issues.
- Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots Navy Internal Communication systems to support operational and test connectivity for tactical communications.
- Coordinates equipment operations including radio system problem isolation, detection, and resolution.
- Ensures operational readiness (initialization, configuration, mode selection) of internal communications systems for scheduled test events.
- Maintains accurate repository of internal communications documentation supporting data link architectures and test events.
- Provides analysis feedback and troubleshooting expertise for test events, including remote support for off‑site participants.
- Assesses and analyzes RF communications and TDL architecture performance to support corrective actions and provide information regarding new equipment acquisition.
- Defines steps and processes required to identify problems and determine corrective actions for internal communications interfaces.
- Repairs fiber optic and video/display operations/maintenance as needed.
- Qualifies and provides support as a CMS custodian as needed.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Deep understanding of troubleshooting Internal communication systems architectures and hardware/software configurations.
- Experience compiling and analyzing information regarding installation, testing, and training of advanced Internal communication systems.
- Proficiency in cable fabrication, hardware installation, and repair of internal communication systems.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Navy Internal Communication Systems and associated interfaces.
- Ability to brief high‑level government personnel.
- Experience with internal communications systems for tactical data systems, associated interfaces, and computer control equipment.
- Proficient with multimeters, oscilloscopes, BERT, spectrum analyzers, cable and fiber testers, and related test equipment.
- Knowledge of schematics and wire diagrams.
- Fiber optic repair expertise preferred.
- WAN/LAN network architecture expertise preferred.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- GED and/or equivalent years of experience.
- IAT LV II required.
- CompTIA Security+ required.
- OSHA Hazwoper certification required after start.
- Red Cross CPR certification required after start.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- General office environment.
- Computer/equipment lab.
- 100% OCONUS expatriate status.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of keyboard and typing.
- Frequent sitting and standing.
WORK SCHEDULE
5/40 schedule. Ability to work non‑standard hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
PAY RANGE
$85,000 to $95,000 annually, DOE, plus additional allowances due to expatriate status.
U.S. Citizenship is Required
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance and will be subject to a U.S. security background investigation. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
