What project we have for you

Intellias is partnering with a Fortune 100, Midwest-based industrial manufacturer to modernize and expand a suite of cloud-based services and data products used by a global network of dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units. Our cross-functional teams deliver scalable APIs, event-driven services, and analytics pipelines that power quoting, ordering, asset telemetry, diagnostics, and lifecycle support for heavy equipment in the field.

What you will do

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of digital platforms, working across new program development and/or maintenance of existing mobile, web, cloud, server, personal computer, mainframe, and/or distributed computing systems.
  • Perform complex programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision.
  • Work directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
  • Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components used by one or more applications or systems.
  • Drive application development focused on delivering business-valuable features.
  • Mentor and assist software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
  • Guide the team in developing structured application/interface code, new program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides.
  • Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
  • Perform integration testing and customer acceptance testing of components, requiring careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
  • Manage the completion of own work assignments and coordinate work with others, generally operating independently with minimal management input and review of end results.
  • Quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious, determining the best course of action within departmental guidelines from among existing solutions.
  • Set priorities and establish work plans to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to meeting quality goals.

What you need for this

Mandatory

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience and designing Java applications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, Application Load Balancer, Network Load Balancer, Fargate, Lambda, Amazon S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with messaging, event-streaming, and queuing technologies such as AWS Kinesis, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache ActiveMQ, or Azure Event Hubs.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and MVC.
  • Experience designing well-defined RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with API development and testing tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, or Assertible.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GoCD, or similar technologies.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical and application issues.
  • Ability to provide 6 hours overlap with US Central Time (CT) on business days (till 2 pm CT latest)
  • On-call support: Willingness to provide off-hours or weekend production support when required.

Nice to Have

  • Writing API proxies on platforms such as Apigee Edge, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Gateway.
  • Hands-on experience with API tools such as Swagger, Postman, and Assertible.
  • Test-driven development and behavior-driven development.
  • Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Selenium and Cucumber, including their integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Debugging and maintaining software on Linux or Unix platforms.
