Platform Engineer - Agent Lifecycle & Archiving

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to design and automate agent lifecycle and archival capabilities for an enterprise AI Agent Platform being built from the ground up.

The role will focus on managing the complete lifecycle of agent versions after deployment, including decommissioning, retention, archival, cleanup, and recovery , while ensuring historical versions remain available when required for audit, compliance, or incident investigation.

About the Project

The project is focused on building an enterprise-grade AI Agent Platform from the ground up. The platform will provide a standardized foundation for developing, deploying, orchestrating, securing, and observing AI agents across multiple teams and use cases.

The initiative covers the full agent lifecycle and brings together agent orchestration, observability, security, governance, integrations, evaluation, and platform engineering. Engineers joining the project will have an opportunity to influence key architectural and technical decisions and contribute to a new platform rather than maintaining an existing solution.

What you will do

• Design and implement agent decommissioning and retirement workflows , including controlled deprecation and version removal.
• Automate agent version archival and retention across AWS ECR and S3.
• Configure and manage ECR lifecycle policies for agent container images.
• Implement automated cleanup of deprecated agent versions while preserving required historical and audit records .
• Build mechanisms to recover archived agent versions for compliance, audit, and incident investigation purposes.
• Maintain lifecycle status and historical information for deprecated and retired versions within the Agent Registry .
• Develop automation for agent snapshots, archival, restoration, and lifecycle operations .
• Implement retention strategies balancing compliance requirements and storage cost optimization .
• Support long-term archival using Amazon S3 Glacier storage classes where appropriate. AWS positions these storage classes specifically for long-term data archiving. [aws.amazon.com]
• Support cross-region replication and disaster recovery patterns for agent artifacts.
• Collaborate with platform, governance, and compliance teams to define lifecycle and retention standards for AI agent versions.

What you need for this

Skills:

• Agent decommissioning process — deprecation workflow, retirement lifecycle, version removal procedures

• Agent version archiving — ECR lifecycle policies, retention policies, S3 archival for old agent versions

• Agent version recovery — restore archived agent versions for compliance, audit, or incident investigation

• Agent version cleanup — automated removal of deprecated versions while preserving audit trail

• AWS ECR lifecycle policies for agent images — move old versions to cheaper storage, eventual deletion

• Agent Registry decommission tracking — mark versions as deprecated/retired, maintain historical records

Experience:

• 4+ years platform or cloud engineering

• Artifact lifecycle management and retention policies

• Compliance-driven data archival and retention (audit trail preservation)

• ECR lifecycle policies and cost optimization

Nice to have:

• AWS S3 Glacier for long-term agent version archival

• Compliance requirements for AI system versioning (audit, investigation)

• Agent version snapshot and recovery automation

• Cross-region agent version replication for DR
