SE Team Leader – Exterior/BIW (Automotive)

Your responsibilities

• Lead the SE team in the body domain (Exterior / BIW) and take end to end responsibility for quality, cost, timing and maturity of assigned components.
• Manage technical changes and release processes (change & release management) across the full vehicle development lifecycle.
• Manage Tier 1 suppliers and secure series production readiness: technical alignment, quality of deliveries, corrective and preventive actions.
• Plan and oversee tool relocations and launch activities (pre series, trials, SOP) in cooperation with manufacturing and suppliers.
• Coordinate cross functional project teams and interfaces between Design, Engineering, Prototype Build, Quality, Purchasing, Logistics, Production and external partners.
• Own schedule and resource planning for your scope: milestones, key dates, workload of the SE team and suppliers; identify risks and report deviations.
• Prepare, maintain and monitor LOPs (List of Open Points) and support the Project Manager in creating and updating project documentation (e.g. PS, DFMEA, PWI, QCI, QCD).
• Lead key technical meetings and SE rounds, present results and decision recommendations to the customer and internal management.

Our requirements

• At least 15 years of experience in the automotive industry in body development.
• Several years of experience in a comparable leadership role (SE Team Leader, Lead Engineer for a component scope or similar).
• Proven background in body engineering in at least one of the following areas: Exterior – outer panels, bumpers, exterior tailgates, spoilers, decorative trims, lamp integration, or Body in White / Rohbau – body structures, doors, tailgates, closures, structural components.
• Experience working for an OEM or Tier 1 supplier on body (Exterior or BIW) projects, including close collaboration with suppliers (technical alignment, quality and timing follow up, problem solving).
• Solid understanding of the vehicle development process from concept through prototypes and tooling up to SOP and series production.
• Practical experience with technical change and release management and with key quality methods/documents (e.g. FMEA, control plans, QCD, PS, PWI).
• Strong skills in leading technical meetings, moderating cross functional discussions and representing your domain towards customers and internal management.
• Very good command of English; German language skills are an asset.

Optional

• Experience with automotive quality and development standards (e.g. ASPICE, ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
