THE DIRECTOR OF THE BUILDING RESEARCH INSTITUTE in Warsaw pursuant to the provisions of Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2024, item 534) and § 9 of the Statute of the Building Research Institute ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION for the position of the Associate Professor in the Fire Research Department of the Building Research Institute in the group of research workers Ref. nr.
: NZP/6/X/2026 Announcement date: October 1, 2026 Submission deadline: October 15, 2026 Employment conditions: - full-time employment; - employment contract. Place of work: Warsaw (Mazovia district in Poland) Persons who meet the conditions specified in Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2024, item 534), as well as the conditions mentioned below, may enter the competition.
Skills/Qualifications: Holding the title of professor or doctor of sciences degree (doctor habilitatus) or doctoral degree in in engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of civil engineering, geodesy and transport. At least 25 years of professional experience in a scientific or research institution. At least 25 years of experience in conducting research and scientific work in the field of fire safety of building structures.
Scientific publications over the last two years with credits in accordance with the current list of Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Publications on topics related to fire safety of structures, with particular emphasis on fire resistance. Participation in the scientific projects and grants. Experience in public speaking during training courses and conferences. Proficiency in English language, both spoken and written, enabling work in international teams.
For foreign candidates, proficiency in Polish, spoken and written, sufficient for effective communication. Strong teamwork skills. Creativity and a high degree of independence. Proficiency in MS Office.
Responsibilities: Participating in scientific research and commissioned research and development work in the field of fire safety of building structures. Preparing scientific and technical opinions and expert opinions related to fire safety of building structures. Conducting work and research related to fire safety of building structures.
Maintaining documentation related to the work performed. Putting the results of scientific research or development work into practice. Preparing reports and presentations. Involvement in the work of national and international organisations promoting scientific achievements by publishing scientific works in prestigious scientific jourals. Actively participating in scientific life, including by giving presentations at scientific and technical conferences. Acquiring or conducting national or international research grants/projects.
Participating in the organisational work of the Institute related to scientific research/development work and teaching activities. Improving one's qualifications through, among other things, participation in training courses, seminars and workshops.
