Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.
This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
Bechtel is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of electrical systems for the AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant Project in Poland, based in our Warsaw Engineering Office.
In this role, you will apply advanced electrical engineering knowledge to the design and integration of electrical systems and plant layouts for a large-scale nuclear project. You will be responsible for developing and reviewing engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international project teams. This position requires collaboration with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineering partners while promoting Bechtel's commitment to quality, safety, and project excellence.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, sound engineering judgment, effective problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to delivering complex engineering solutions in a challenging project environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Design and develop electrical power systems and distribution networks ranging from 230V to 400kV for a large-scale nuclear power project.
Apply established electrical engineering methods, procedures, criteria, and industry practices in the development of layouts, drawings, technical specifications, and engineering solutions for assigned projects and activities.
Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical systems and components throughout various phases of power system design and project execution, in accordance with Bechtel engineering procedures, standards, and tools.
Interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations (including U.S., IEC, and Polish standards), as well as client requirements, in the preparation of design documents, technical specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions.
Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, including the review of supplier and subcontractor documentation to support electrical system design and integration.
Support permitting and licensing activities related to the design, construction, and operation phases of the project.
Lead the development and review of electrical design deliverables throughout all project phases, from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 5–8 years of experience in EPC project environments.
- Licensed Professional Design Engineer (Poland) - Electrical engineer authorised to independently perform technical design tasks in construction, with experience in designing electrical and power installations. Holds unrestricted building qualifications in the electrical specialty and is a registered member of the Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers (PIIB).
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills both in English, and native in Polish.
Proven experience independently executing engineering and design activities for construction projects, including the design of electrical and power systems.
Fluent in both Polish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive experience in electrical engineering design and calculations, supported by at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the selection and specification of electrical equipment, power cables, grounding systems, lighting systems, underground distribution networks, arc flash protection systems, and lightning protection systems.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including electrical schematics, equipment layouts, and power system studies for power generation and industrial facilities.
Practical experience with, or advanced knowledge of, ETAP and other electrical engineering design tools, including 2D and 3D CAD platforms.
Thorough understanding of Polish regulations, European directives, and industry standards, with demonstrated experience applying them to electrical system design, engineering layouts, and documentation required to support permitting and licensing activities in Poland.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with proven experience working effectively in multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
