You will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the rigorous safety standards of ISO26262 from concept to production release and act as a technical lead, bridging the gap between high‑level safety concepts and detailed hardware/software implementation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical development for the system functions with cross‑functional development teams, component leads, and customers.
- Negotiate the technical requirements, scope and subcontract deliverables for the system feature.
- Use knowledge to drive and disseminate system‑level requirements and architectural proposals.
- Use knowledge to ensure designs meet requirements and test quality and coverage are ensured.
- Drive engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure commitment to internal quality processes during the development, execution and verification.
- Define the functional and technical safety concepts (FSC/TSC) for inverter systems.
- Support the development of test specifications for HiL (Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop) and vehicle‑level testing and perform fault injections to validate safety mechanisms.
- Lead technical analysis, trade‑off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations for the defined features.
- Manage the execution of all system engineering activities and product deliverables consistent with the SE process.
- Be a single point of reference for related change requests and issue investigations.
- Work closely with the SW, HW and Testing team to drive the implementation and verification for the defined features.
- Support the definition and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools.
- Document and share best practices.
- Mentor less experienced engineers; role model for BW Beliefs.
What we’re looking for
- In depth experience in related engineering field applying Systems Engineering principles throughout the product life cycle in Functional Safety according to ISO 26262 and AURIX safety manual.
- 5–10 years of industrial experience in automotive system engineering, with at least 3+ years specifically in Functional Safety for Automotive applications; preferable high‑voltage power electronics or inverters.
- Understanding of SysML to model safety architectures and behavior.
- Preferable knowledge in Power electronics, specifically motor drive inverters.
- In depth knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management.
- Experience with electronics systems, especially in the areas of sensors and actuators.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of embedded software and / or hardware development.
- Proficiency in safety analysis tools (e.g., Medini) and simulation environments like MATLAB/Simulink.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French or German is a benefit.
- Organized and structured work style and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
- Travel 10% required, domestic and international.
