About the Role
Senior Manager, Industrial Utilities – Global Logistics, part of the Global CMO and Logistics Procurement organization, responsible for category management and sourcing of utilities across Haleon manufacturing sites. The role manages spend of £50m+ in categories such as electricity, natural gas, water, steam, compressed air, waste management and other plant utilities to deliver cost efficiency, supply security, sustainability and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development
- Manage a spend of £50m+ for key Utilities category globally.
- Understand how global and regional strategies affect local markets and align them.
- Build an education & communication process for stakeholders.
- Serve as global expert in the spend categories.
- Develop and implement global and regional sourcing strategies for industrial utilities.
- Manage strategic sourcing initiatives for electricity, gas, water and waste utilities.
- Conduct market analysis to identify cost savings, efficiencies and supplier innovation.
Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with utility providers, energy suppliers and service contractors.
- Build strategic relationships with key global suppliers and lead value‑driving processes.
- Ensure global and regional considerations are factored into supplier relationships.
- Manage the supply base for the categories through a robust performance management process.
- Develop and implement operational excellence strategies for key global suppliers.
- Lead supplier negotiations and long‑term contracts to secure competitive pricing and service reliability.
- Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular reviews.
Cost Optimization & Value Creation
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, consumption optimisation and demand management.
- Drive initiatives such as energy efficiency projects, load optimisation and renewable energy sourcing.
- Collaborate with site engineering teams to implement utilities optimisation programmes.
Sustainability & Energy Transition
- Support Haleon’s sustainability agenda through renewable energy procurement and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Evaluate opportunities such as Power Purchase Agreements, energy certificates and on‑site generation.
- Track and report environmental impact related to utilities spend.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with manufacturing sites to understand utilities demand and operational requirements.
- Work cross‑functionally with engineering, EHS, finance and supply chain teams.
- Provide procurement expertise during site expansion or capital projects involving utilities.
- Influence key global and regional stakeholders to support strategy development and execution.
Risk Management
- Transform the supply chain to reduce risk, control cost and improve responsiveness.
- Monitor global energy markets and regulatory developments affecting utilities supply.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate energy price volatility and supply disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Procurement Governance
- Ensure procurement activities follow Haleon policies and ethical sourcing standards.
- Manage contracts, supplier onboarding and compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Finance or Supply Chain.
- 7+ years of operational procurement experience.
- Proficiency with procurement tools (sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review).
- Demonstrated expertise in category strategy development, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management.
- In‑depth understanding of the external environment and supplier relationship models.
- Strong financial and legal knowledge (cost benchmarking, financial audit, contracting).
- Clear understanding of business value, priorities and implementation risks.
- Experience working in a matrixed global/regional business environment.
- Strong networking and relationship‑building skills.
- Project management skills to prioritise multiple projects.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Experience with risk management.
