Middle Network Engineer

We are looking for a Middle Network Engineer to join a project for a customer in the renewable energy sector.

You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining network connectivity across the customer’s OT (Operational Technology) infrastructure, including remote operational sites and data center environments. The role is focused on network monitoring, incident resolution, troubleshooting, and ensuring stable connectivity across a distributed infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network connectivity across the OT landscape and ensure stable performance of the Global Data Backbone.
• Perform daily network health and connectivity checks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents to minimize service disruptions.
• Provide 2nd-level support for networking issues, including VPN connectivity, remote access, firewalls, routing, and switching.
• Analyze technical incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
• Manage incidents through the ticketing system and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot connectivity across remote and distributed locations.
• Support and troubleshoot VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, routers, switches, and related network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams in an international environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise networking environments.
• Strong practical knowledge of:TCP/IP and network fundamentalsVPNs, including Site-to-Site/IPsec and remote accessVLANsRouting and switchingFirewallsRouters and switches

• Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting and resolving medium-complexity connectivity issues.
• Experience with firewall technologies; hands-on experience with Palo Alto is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with WatchGuard and/or Clavister is a strong advantage.
• Experience with incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve L2 networking incidents.
• Experience supporting distributed or remote network environments.
• Networking certification such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working in an international environment.
• Fluent English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with OT / Operational Technology networks.
• Experience with SCADA, ICS, or industrial networking environments.
• Previous experience in renewable energy, utilities, energy, or other industrial domains.
• Experience with Palo Alto Panorama, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, or other enterprise firewall solutions.
• German language skills.

About the Project

The customer operates in the renewable energy industry and manages a geographically distributed OT infrastructure. The network environment connects operational assets and remote locations with centralized data center infrastructure.

The main objective of this role is to ensure reliable, secure, and uninterrupted connectivity across this environment through proactive monitoring, effective troubleshooting, and timely incident resolution.
