Communications Support Officer

Your responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Communications Team, including the processing of invoices, support to financial reporting, and the management of subscriptions;
  • Support the delivery of day-to-day communications activity, including the recording and editing of content and the publication of material across social media channels;
  • Support the planning and delivery of Embassy events and official visits, including the development of content for the Ambassador’s regional visits and liaison on associated media activity;
  • Maintain and update the GOV.UK platform, working with consular and other colleagues as required in relation to public-facing enquiries and content;
  • Undertake translation between English and Polish, and provide research support, including impact monitoring of the team’s work and basic analysis;
  • Lead, or provide support to, specific communications projects and campaigns, including the development of creative and engaging content;
  • Contribute ideas and drafting support to strengthen the Embassy’s social media presence and broader public diplomacy objectives, including through research and proofreading.

Our requirements

  • Full professional proficiency in Polish and English at a minimum of C1 level according to CEFR*;
  • A strong interest in public communications;
  • Experience of producing content for social media and digital platforms, including basic video or visual content;
  • Good written communication skills;
  • Good stakeholder management skills, both with internal colleagues and external partners;
  • Good prioritization and time management skills.

Optional

  • Previous experience in a communications, media, public affairs or digital content role;
  • Experience working in a professional environment;
  • Experience of tracking the success of content through the use of basic metrics;
  • Experience of supporting events, visits or public-facing campaigns;
  • Experience of translation, proofreading or drafting in both English and Polish;
  • Experience with basic budgeting and financial planning;
  • An understanding of the UK-Poland bilateral relationship or wider international affairs context.

What we offer

This is a full-time, fixed-term position of 5 days (37.5 hours net) per week, from Monday to Friday, for the period of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.

The salary for this position is PLN 9,391 gross per month.

Other benefits:

• Staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.

• The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata.

• The Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish/UK public holidays per year.

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to reference checks and the satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

Learning & Development: The British Embassy Warsaw offers a wide range of other development opportunities, including shadowing other teams, mentoring and interactive Learning and Development sessions, as supported by the wider FCDO training offer. The successful candidate will have access to the Embassy’s wider learning offer, alongside relevant central FCDO training, also including communications-related courses.

Working patterns: The British Embassy Warsaw has a strong commitment to work/life balance. Standard office hours are 8.30-16.30 with flexi-hours possibility within the opening hours 8.00-18.00. We also have mobile technology and offer hybrid working with remote working days to be agreed with Line Managers.

Main purpose of the job:

The CSO will support the delivery of this work through the development of high-quality content, day-to-day communications activity, and wider support to the Embassy’s public profile. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in public communications and confidence in using digital and social media tools to extend audience reach and maximise impact.
