Frontend Desktop Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Keet Desktop, a cross-platform peer-to-peer communications application.
• Implement UI/UX features using React and the Pear runtime.
• Optimize frontend performance, including rendering and memory management.
• Write modular, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Test and debug complex frontend applications.
• Contribute to P2P and distributed-systems functionality in a remote, globally distributed team.

Requirements

• Proven production-scale experience with React or Preact.
• Strong competency with modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with state management such as Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or similar tools.
• Ability to write modular, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Strong frontend testing and debugging skills.
• Deep interest or experience with P2P technologies or distributed systems.
• Good communication skills and comfort working remotely with a globally distributed team.
• Preferred: experience with Electron, Tauri, or similar desktop application runtimes.
• Preferred: familiarity with WebRTC, media streams, video/audio APIs, and real-time communication.
• Preferred: experience building cross-platform applications for macOS, Windows, Linux, or similar platforms.
• Bonus: contributions to open-source projects, especially in P2P or decentralized technology.
