Your responsibilities
Global Commodity Strategy:
- Develop and implement commodity strategies for steel in line with business objectives
- Manage and optimise the assigned portfolio ensuring cost efficiency and value creation
- Monitor market trends (e.g. raw material indices, energy impacts, regulatory changes) to anticipate risks and opportunities
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives and deliver annual savings targets
- Prepare and present strategic updates on APV performance to senior management
- Track financial impact of sourcing decisions and ensure transparency in reporting
Supplier Management & Negotiations:
- Lead strategic negotiations with key global suppliers
- Manage high-value contracts and ensure alignment with legal, financial, and operational requirements
- Establish and maintain strong executive-level relationships with suppliers
Risk Management & Supply Security:
- Identify and mitigate risks impacting the APV, including capacity constraints, geopolitical factors, and logistics disruptions
- Ensure material availability and no production stops
- Develop dual sourcing and contingency strategies
Cross-functional Leadership:
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, finance, logistics, and quality teams
- Align sourcing decisions with financial targets and optimisation objectives
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects related to cost, innovation, and compliance
Sustainability & Compliance:
- Ensure alignment with environmental regulations and corporate sustainability targets (e.g. CO₂ footprint reduction)
- Oversee compliance with trade regulations, quotas, and safeguard measures in Europe
- Drive supplier engagement on decarbonisation and responsible sourcing
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of commodity buyers across different locations
- Set performance objectives linked to APV management and cost performance
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Our requirements
- English language proficiency (C1)
- Master’s degree in business administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field
- Min 5 years of experience in Purchasing
- Experience in Raw Material Purchasing (especially Steel & Aluminium)
- Proficiency in cost analysis
- Skills in negotiating contracts and prices
- Ability to manage supplier relationships
- Knowledge of automotive products and technologies will be an advantage
- Proactive, and results-driven
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to work in autonomy
- Analytical and synthesis skills
- SAP & Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint proficiency
