About the project

As a Senior Python API Developer – Healthcare Data Integration, you will be working for our client, a leading player in the healthcare industry. You will help design, develop, and optimize robust APIs and backend services that process and expose critical healthcare data from multiple sources. Your work will drive innovation in patient care, operational efficiency, and data reliability.

Location & Work Model: Poland, Portugal | Remote (5 days/week).

Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in the European Union will be considered for this role.

Salary: 6 300 - 8 400 USD on B2B kontract

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade APIs in Python, focusing on FastAPI framework.
• Build backend services that handle real-time data from internal and external health systems.
• Implement API logic with request validation, error handling, authentication, logging, and monitoring.
• Develop asynchronous services to enhance system performance and scalability.
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries supporting large datasets and operational workflows.
• Integrate diverse healthcare data sources including claims, patient records, referrals, and admissions.
• Ensure data consistency, quality, and accuracy across multiple systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to deliver scalable backend solutions.
• Document technical processes, API interfaces, and support reliable, maintainable engineering practices.

Our requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Python backend or service development.
• Proven experience building and maintaining APIs using FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of API design principles and service-oriented architecture.
• Solid SQL skills, capable of working with large datasets, complex queries, and optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience integrating multiple data sources with varying schemas and quality.
• Good knowledge of asynchronous programming in Python.
• Familiarity with Git workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and specifications.
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.

Optional

• Experience working in healthcare IT or related regulatory environments.
• Knowledge of data transformation, reconciliation, and validation techniques.
• Certifications related to Python, API development, or healthcare data standards.
