The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of commercial software engineering experience .

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot . You will work in a modern, agile engineering environment and contribute across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with engineers across multiple regions.

The role offers the opportunity to work with a modern technology stack spanning event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted software development .

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot .

• Build and support event-driven solutions using Kafka .

• Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on Kubernetes .

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitLab .

• Monitor and improve application performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and the Elastic Stack .

• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle .

• Contribute to code quality, automation, engineering standards, and best practices.

• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.

What We're Looking For:

Experience

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience .

• Strong commercial experience in Java backend development .

• Experience working with modern SDLC practices and GitLab .

• Good understanding of containerisation and orchestration , particularly Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience working effectively in an international, distributed engineering environment .

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline , or equivalent commercial experience.

Nice to Have:

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Securities settlements and post-trade processing within financial services.

• AWS .

• AI-assisted development tools beyond GitHub Copilot.
