Senior OCS Engineer - Rail Systems (Poland)

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior OCS (Overhead Contact System) Engineer to join our Global Rail Systems team in Katowice, Poland .

The ideal candidate is a results‑driven engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must be detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design OCS layouts, wire tensions, foundations, poles/columns/structures for light rail, commuter rail and streetcar with pantograph as well as streetcar and electrified buses with trolley poles.
• Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design.
• Develop documents including specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
• Review project submittals and requests for information from contractors.
• Provide installation, testing and commissioning support to clients.
• Manage OCS projects.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for degree requirements.
• 10 to 15 years of experience with DC OCS systems design, including the design of 600 to 1,500 volt DC rail as well as 12 to 25 kilovolt AC transit systems.
• Thorough understanding of the relevant European railway standards (EN, IEC, UIC and others).
• Professional engineer’s license is an advantage.
• Experience with North American and/or European transit/transportation industries is highly desirable.

Desired Skills/Experience

• Tension and pole/foundation load calculations.
• CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation) and OCS design software experience with structural engineering analysis software like STAAD and RISA.
• Experience in field testing of OCS systems.
• Knowledge of railway traction power systems.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

Location: Katowice, Poland. This position will support global signalling projects from our Katowice office.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
