We are hiring on behalf of our client – a global financial services organization recognized for its premium service, deep domain expertise, and strong technology-driven approach. The company partners with clients, helping them solve complex challenges across investor services and capital markets. As a Senior Java Developer, you will design and develop core backend platforms and scalable microservices. You will contribute to new product development and modernization initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and work closely with engineering and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with strong ownership expectations. You will help shape technical solutions, improve engineering practices, and ensure that business-critical systems remain secure, reliable, maintainable, and ready to scale.

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java 17+, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices and REST APIs supporting investment management products.
• Apply object-oriented design, clean code principles, and established software design patterns.
• Develop solutions that meet demanding performance, reliability, security, and maintainability standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Drive technical improvements across existing platforms and modernization initiatives.
• Participate in code reviews and promote consistent engineering standards across the team.
• Ensure solutions follow secure coding principles and software development lifecycle best practices.
• Partner with architects, QA engineers, DevOps specialists, and business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• Work within a cross-functional Agile team delivering web, backend, and mobile platform capabilities.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and dependencies clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentor other engineers where required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and production issues.
• Improve logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing across services.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and deployment.
• Drive continuous improvements in development processes, engineering tooling, and operational reliability.

Our requirements

• At least 6 years of hands-on commercial experience developing enterprise applications in Java.
• Strong practical knowledge of Java 17 or newer.
• Advanced experience with Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and backend service development.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, object-oriented design, clean code, and software design patterns.
• Solid SQL skills, including practical experience with query analysis and optimization.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with messaging or event-streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of secure coding principles and common application security risks.
• Experience using security scanning or vulnerability detection tools.
• Familiarity with application logging, metrics, monitoring, and distributed tracing.
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting business-critical production systems.
• Proven ability to take ownership of technical solutions from design through production support.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, QA, DevOps, and business teams.
• Very good English communication skills.
