Job Description

• Develop and optimize multi-stage wire drawing processes, including pass schedules and reduction strategies to improve overall process capability.
• Drive improvements in production efficiency, operational stability, drawing speed, and thermal management throughout wire drawing operations.
• Lead engineering initiatives related to lubrication performance, cooling systems, and drawing die optimization.
• Create and implement global standards and best practices for wire drawing technologies across manufacturing sites.
• Enhance the metallurgical performance of wire rod, solid MIG wire, and strip materials used in flux-cored wire (FCW) production.
• Monitor and control microstructural changes during drawing, annealing, and heat treatment processes to ensure product quality.
• Define technical specifications and process requirements for new drawing equipment, payoff systems, annealers, and forming lines.
• Improve tooling durability through optimized die materials, wear analysis, and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Lead the implementation of advanced process monitoring technologies, including sensors, laser measurement systems, and inline surface inspection tools.
• Provide technical support for equipment commissioning, modernization projects, and process upgrades at global production facilities.
• Coach and support engineers, process specialists, and plant leadership teams across international operations.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to convert metallurgical research and laboratory concepts into scalable industrial manufacturing solutions.
• Deliver both remote and on-site technical expertise to support manufacturing plants worldwide.
• Coordinate global knowledge-sharing initiatives and promote best-practice exchange across regions and product groups.

The Successful Applicant

• Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in wire drawing, welding consumables manufacturing, or precision metal forming processes.
• Strong metallurgical knowledge of low-alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, and metallic coating materials.
• Hands-on expertise in solid wire (GMAW/MIG) and flux-cored wire (FCAW) production technologies and process optimization.
• Advanced skills in root cause analysis and material investigations, including SEM, microstructural evaluation, EDS, and spectroscopy techniques.
• Experience with modern drawing lubricants, carbide and PCD tooling, as well as inline process monitoring and control systems.
• Proven track record of driving technical standards, supporting global operations, and mentoring engineering or production teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally for business purposes (up to 50% of the time).
