Your responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will take responsibility for the financial accounting of our German entity. In this role, you will work closely with the team in Germany and collaborate with colleagues in Switzerland. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with strong knowledge of German accounting, HGB and German tax regulations, looking for a role with a high level of responsibility and independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Ensure the accurate recording of all ongoing business transactions in financial accounting, in compliance with applicable German tax and commercial law regulations

- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations, including the resolution of complex discrepancies

- Take responsibility for fixed asset accounting and the accurate recording of fixed assets

- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB (German Commercial Code)

- Prepare and submit VAT returns

- Prepare management reports (BWA) and provide relevant financial information to management

- Act as a key contact for auditors, tax advisors and authorities

- Provide accounting expertise and support on accounting-related matters across the company

- Lead and coordinate the Financial Accountant, providing guidance and support in day-to-day accounting activities

Our requirements

• Several years of practical experience in financial accounting, with proven experience in German accounting and sound knowledge of HGB and German tax and accounting regulations. Knowledge of IFRS is an advantage
• Strong written and spoken English skills are required
• Very good German skills are highly desirable and would be a strong asset
• Strong proficiency in MS Office or Google Workspace, particularly Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with accounting software such as DATEV is a strong advantage
• Completed commercial vocational training (e.g. as a tax clerk) or a comparable degree with a focus on accounting or finance
• Additional qualifications or certifications in accounting or finance are an advantage
• Previous experience in guiding or coordinating employees in finance and accounting is an advantage
• Independent, reliable and detail-oriented approach to work
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
